The Slave Law of 1850

The slave law of 1850 agreed that slaves could be apprehended & captured in the northern parts of the United States. They also were returned to their masters. Many northerners were abolitionists. An abolitionist is a person who disagreed with slavery. Some free African Americans were captured & accused of being an escaped slave. This to anger & violence between the north & south. Abolitionists nicknamed it the blood hound law.
